  • Fire Danger – Residents may not be aware of the fire danger lurking in our neighborhood. There is a tremendous amount of forest debris from leaf fall and downed trees that has built up over the years in the County owned forests to the east and west of the lake.  The County has no fire prevention plan for these areas.  Fire District #40 and #43 do not fight forest fires. It is the responsibility of the Dept of Natural Resources.  It takes time for them to respond. With the 4th of July approaching, there are risks of setting off illegal, airborne fireworks.  It will only take one spark in the wrong place to start a fire from which there may be no escape.   Take a look at our neighborhoods' (Trovitsky Park, The Parks, Woodside, Lake Desire) layout.  How would you evacuate our area if there is a serious fire????  Only so much pavement and so many cars!!!  In addition, the county road department has not, and may not, trim our road shoulders and ditches, as they used to, due to broken equipment and cutbacks.  The weeds/grasses are now mature and will begin drying up due to the prolonged drought. A tossed cigarette or fireworks could cause a fire.  Check your property and clear up any combustibles.  As a reminder, there is a "no outdoor burning" law for this area.  You cannot burn brush and trash.  Recreational fires are okay as long as they conform to the rules of Fire District #40. See the following link for the current status/rules of King County, http://fortress.wa.gov/dnr/firedanger/CountyLanding.
